It tells the deeply personal story of one woman’s—and millions of others’—journey to escape physical, mental, and financial abuse. Rebecca Magnuson’s own experiences provide a powerful foundation for the show, from her upbringing as the daughter of a conservative, hell-fire preacher to a tumultuous divorce trial in DC Superior Court where she exposed hidden financial manipulation and systemic justice failures. She was later arraigned in criminal court for sending a single text to her ex-husband that read, "F*** you."
Through raw, honest storytelling, the documentary delves into the complexities of toxic relationships, portraying a personal journey that speaks to a broader struggle for survival and empowerment. Created by Rebecca Magnuson, Surviving the Narcissist is part of the broader She Sings® series, which also includes She Sings® A Soaring Musical.

She Sings®: Surviving the Narcissist is a recently completed five-part limited documentary series that explores the powerful journey of one woman, and millions of others, as they struggle to escape physical, emotional, and financial abuse. Through their resilience, they find profound strength and reclaim their voices—leading them to the moment where they can finally say: "She Sings®." Future seasons will feature singer-songwriters sharing their own deeply personal stories of survival and empowerment.
The She Sings® journey began as a one-woman musical, written and performed by acclaimed singer-songwriter, composer, playwright, and concert pianist, Rebecca Magnuson. It debuted to sold-out audiences and glowing reviews off-Broadway, in Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Nashville, and even Cannes, France.
From May 2019 to February 2022, Rebecca partnered with Amazon as a Delivery Service Partner. Her company, Magnuson Transport LLC, was ranked in the top 10% of Amazon’s global delivery services, completing over 7 million deliveries with a diverse team—many of whom were women. Parts of the fifth episode of the documentary were filmed at an Amazon Delivery Station in Northern Virginia, where her business was based.
In July 2023, Rebecca purchased a restaurant on Chautauqua Lake in Mayville, NY, launching She Sings® Café, Restaurant, and Bar on September 28, 2023.
